Dear Katoke Co-workers,

We have much cause to rejoice over the work of the Trust this year.

I thank God for you and for the way he has continued to provide our needs for the work.  Our two major events, the Tour or Teach and the Annual Dinner aroused great interest and attracted strong support.

The highlight of the year was obviously Samuel Habimana's visit. He charmed all he met and left a powerful impression.  What an inspiration!  Our long time supporters were reassured we have honourable leadership at Katoke and many new supporters were confident in being added to our lists.  Our links to several Sydney schools were extended.  As well, quite a number of people have enquired about going to Katoke in various capacities and sponsorships increased most pleasingly.

In Africa the aid program with its multiple projects has continued strongly especially the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School.  Our 320 students in forms 1 to 3 are responding enthusiastically and achieving excellent results in National Exams.   Sid and Marilyn Moir with some strong African leaders and helped by great Australian short term volunteers, have given marvellous impetus to the school.  David Gaskell has overseen great progress on building Stage 3 of the five stages we need.   The major item we have before us in 2012 is the Dining/Assembly Hall/ chapel  which will be the biggest building and for which we do not yet have the money – some $160,000.

Thank you for the many skills and strong commitment you bring so generously to the school and to the work of our various committees.

At Christmas it is great to have the inspiration of Jesus, "though he was rich, yet for our sakes became poor, so that we, through his poverty might become rich".

Joy and peace of Christmas

Alan
